Lobby, Seville, 2023 In the heart of Seville, Hotel Pasarela is conceived as a threshold, not just between street and lobby, but between the everyday and the poetic. Two Sevillian voices guide the design from the moment of arrival: Bécquer and Machado, their verses translated into space, light and material. The entrance and reception take their form from Bécquer's Rima LIII. Swallows in flight animate the wooden wall, their movement a silent allegory of arrival and departure, of guests who pass through, drawn by something they may not yet be able to name. The reception desk floats within an oval of warm brass, a nest suspended between comings and goings. From there, the café bar unfolds as the three stages of love from Rima X: the exaltation of the first encounter, the warmth of its fullness, and the quiet melancholy of what remains. The space is structured as a glorieta, wrapped in rose and gold, where Bécquer's romanticism settles into every surface. Where Bécquer ends, Machado begins. The lounge and buffet breathe the spirit of La primavera besaba, a floral mural in deep green carries the exuberance of a season in full bloom, while golden details beneath an almond tree in flower invite the kind of pause that poetry demands.
Suite Cernuda, Seville, 2023 The Suite Cernuda speaks in a different register, more intimate, more inward. Rooted in Escondido entre los muros, the suite organises itself around an allegorical wall that moves through the spaces like a verse through a stanza. The bathroom becomes its own sanctuary: water, stillness, and a cascade of paper forms across the walls that evoke the quiet beauty Cernuda found in hidden, enclosed things. Natural and floral elements blur the line between reality and reverie. Here, time slows. Each detail is a line. The suite, in its entirety, is the poem.
